oh man…we made it. i was a little nervous (ok VERY nervous) about traveling across the country with a 3 week old. in my dreams we had to stop every hour and it took us about a week to get there. we actually made decent time and only had to stop every 3 hours or so. macen is already getting somewhat used our life of traveling constantly. thank goodness he likes his car seat.
so…we are here in Holland and heading up to Leland this afternoon (Thursday). Brad’s racing in the IceMan this weekend. We are super excited to see his family!!!
Macen got to meet some of the Los/Lokker side of the family already, but lookin’ forward to seeing everyone! we’ll be back in Holland next Thursday, through the weekend and maybe into the following week. it’s nice not having to rush back to CO for work ![]()
that’s all right now…sorry these posts are pretty lame. our current conversations consist of poop, burping, favorite diapers, etc. pretty uneventful.
have a great day!

Yesterday was a beautiful day here in Colorado. Perfect for teaching a PE class outdoors. A few weeks ago I was asked to come talk to an Elementary school about health, fitness, and being a professional cyclist. It was fun to be at a school teaching about my passion for racing bikes. The 6-8th graders had some good questions that made sense where the K-2 graders were funny. I asked if there were any questions and I get all hands up. You think they were questions? No, they were funny stories about their dad rides a bike really far or how they race in their neighborhood. Fun to see their excitement and joy for life. If your needed some of that take advantage of this Saturday Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day. Check it out herehttp://303cycling.com/oct3-take-kid-mountain-biking

So we almost skipped Fall and went straight to winter yesterday. What a cold nasty day we had here. I’m glad we have some leftover soup from yesterday because it’s another cool one today. Yesterday I got to go up to Boulder and go for a short hike with my team mate from last year and friend Alessandro Bazzana (Baz). He heads off to Italy soon so it was nice to see him before he goes home for the winter. I’m excited for him and his new adventure starting a site called www.thesoundofcycling.com It’ll be a site full of interviews from cyclists of all levels. He’s hoping to get it up by the October 15 so be sure to check it out. Time for another cup of coffee or some tea to keep warm.

Today we headed up to Breckenridge to watch the cross race and enjoy Octoberfest in the mountains. It was fun hooking up with Peder for day and watching the race. The Hudz-Subaru guys were strong taking the win. The rain at the end put a damper on Octoberfest so we ended up visiting an Irish bar in town. The colors up there are already beautiful!!! If you live in the Denver area you better get up there soon so you don’t miss em. Happy Fall everyone!

The off season is always a good thing for the mind and body. This year I was planning on doing a couple cross races before hanging the bikes up for a small break. With the hip and back still sore from the crash at Tour of Missouri I think I’m going skip the couple cross races and take my break now. I was really looking forward to a couple early season cross races coming off Tour of Missouri. The form would be there but maybe not the technical skills. Since the bikes are up it’s time to get down to the real nuts and bolts of off season. It’s fun because you can sit there and say what do I want to do? One thing is for sure Jenny and I are having a little boy sometime in the next month. I’ll be preparing for that as much as possible. One of my favorite cyclist Jens Voigt told me at Tour of Missouri there isn’t much that can prepare you. You just have to learn as you go. That’s coming from a guy who acts like he’s hopped up on Red Bull and has 5 kids. A few more things and a carpet cleaning and we’ll be ready as we’re going to get. Other things I’m looking forward to are heading up to the mountains to see the changing colors and visiting with some friends while we eat and drink to our hearts content. It was a great season and I thank all you who have helped me through with your notes, calls, and cheers from the side of the road. We’ll do it again next year!
